Do crash diets cause hair loss?

There is evidence that caloric deprivation of fewer than 1000 calories per day or sudden weight loss is associated with hair loss. This evidence of hair shedding can be noticed as early as one month after the diet begins. The fact is, crash diets deprive your organs of vital nutrients, this includes your hair. Like any other organ, your hair needs nutrients to grow such as vitamins, iron, proteins, and fatty acids. A crash diet is horrible for your overall health, not just for your hair. If you're planning to lose weight quickly, a mix of a more lean diet and exercise is the best route, starving your body ends up doing more harm than good.
